about
🪶Composed and inspired by my experiences, while living for two years on Hawaii Island. This is a 'medicine' song about deepening into sovereignty and the understanding of the distinction between co-dependency and true author-ship of our experiences, and how love - pure love - within an interpersonal dynamic, can heighten that awareness - (and I am not down-playing how it can be painful and arduous to loosen control!!) This song celebrates, with its ambient vocal tones, overtones and harmonies, the experience of spaciousness, freedom, personal evolution, and grateful tenderness about being seen by the one who loves you.
Musically, I draw upon my years of study of Raga music and singing, with my vocal inflection and slides, and tonal ornamentations, and also, using the sound of tabla for the percussion.
🙏🏼I respect and honor the teachers I've had over the years who have taught me, in the lineage of North Indian Classical, Pandit Pran Nath, with Rose Okada, of Portland, OR.
